GUIL: What's the last thing you remember?
ROS: I don't wish to be reminded of it.
"We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered."
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern have been summoned to the court of Denmark. They must find out what is tormenting the prince, Hamlet. They do not know why, or even how they got there, but they follow their orders. Or perhaps the orders are being followed without them. They do not question it. There must be a logic behind it. Why, then, does it feel as if they have signed their own death warrant?
ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ZIJN DOOD is a performance about indifference and the assumption that you will be saved if you simply say 'yes' to the system.
